Substitute Employment Opportunities
Substitute Teachers:
Carbondale Community High School District 165 is accepting applications for Substitute Teachers for the 2024-25 school year. The Substitute Teacher daily rate of pay is $110.00 (including TRS). Substitute Teachers are employed on an as needed basis. Substitute Teachers are paid by direct deposit on the 25th of each month for the days worked the preceding month. The following documentation is required to be placed on the district roster of Substitute Teachers:
1. Completed Substitute Teacher Employment Packet. (Download a Substitute Teacher Employment Packet Here).
2. Regional Office of Education #30 Substitute Teacher Authorization Form with verification that it is registered for the 2024-25 school year. Substitute Non-certified Employees:
Carbondale Community High School District 165 is accepting applications for CCHS District 165 Substitute Support Staff (substitute clerical, cafeteria and maintenance staff). Substitute non-certified employees are employed on an as needed basis at the minimum wage rate of pay by direct deposit. The following documentation is required to be placed on the district roster of substitute support staff:

2. Fingerprint Background Check
3. Physical Health Examination

The success of Carbondale Community High School students and alumni has earned the school recognition and respect as one of Illinois’ top institutions year after year. The 2024 graduating class included 31 Illinois State Scholars, nine National Merit Commended Honorees and three National Merit Finalists. Graduating seniors earned over three million dollars to support their attendance at over 46 colleges and universities, as well as pursuing opportunities in the US National Guard.
CCHS includes in its course offerings nine AP (Advanced Placement) credit courses, nine honors credit courses, 42 dual credit courses, A CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Program; a Construction Craft Preparation Program taught at the Illinois Laborers’ & Contractors Joint Apprenticeship and Training Facility; and a Cosmetology Program will begin in the fall of 2024. The music program has been a top three State Finalist nine out of the last 12 years (State Championship in 2014).
The Scholar Bowl and ACES (Academic Challenge in Engineering and Science) teams are nationally ranked, and CCHS students have been state finalists in Speech, History Fair, Science Fair, FBLA and Skills USA.
To date, the CCHS Education Foundation has awarded over $269,500 in Education Foundation Grants awarded to students and faculty for programs and scholarships.

●The Class of 2024 reported scholarships of over three million dollars, with over one hundred thousand of that being local scholarship dollars, to support their attendance at over 46 colleges and universities throughout the country. Location: Carbondale Community High School is in Carbondale, Illinois, home of Southern Illinois University. A city of approximately 26,000 residents, Carbondale is proud to offer all the luxuries of a larger city while maintaining the comforts of a small town.
