Dr. Daniel Booth

Daniel Booth is in his second stint at Carbondale Community High School (CCHS), a school district that serves over 1,000 students in the Carbondale area from the communities of Makanda, De Soto, and Carbondale. Prior to becoming the district leader at CCHS, Mr. Booth served as superintendent at Carbondale Elementary School District 95 (CES 95), the largest feeder into Carbondale Community High School. As superintendent at CES 95, Mr. Booth was able to push the school district to success that it had not seen in recent years. Under his leadership at Carbondale 95, all four schools in the district improved their ESSA designation on the Illinois School Report Card, making it one of the few school districts in the state to achieve such significant growth within a single year. Mr. Booth also used facility sales tax funding to complete 2.5 million dollars of renovations to the district’s schools to improve their learning environment for students. For his work at Carbondale Elementary School District 95, he was named a 2021 IASA Superintendent of Distinction in the Shawnee region.
After three years at Carbondale Elementary School District 95, Mr. Booth returned to Carbondale Community High School District 165 as the superintendent. In his first stint at CCHS, which spanned 12 years, Mr. Booth served as principal, assistant principal, dean of students, teacher, and coach. Since returning to CCHS, Mr. Booth is focused on preparing students for the future by forging new partnerships with SIU Carbondale and local community colleges. In addition, he has engaged the Carbondale community on a new strategic plan and completed over ten million dollars in construction, including a new certified nurse assistant, engineering, construction, and cosmetology lab to assist students in becoming career ready, while walking through the halls at CCHS. Mr. Booth is married to the love of his life, Ashley, and is committed to being the best dad to the couple’s three children, Jaxon, Delaney, and Bellamy.
