Terrier Music Earns 2nd Place

Carbondale Terrier Music recently earned 2nd Place among all IHSA Class A Schools. IHSA's Class A includes all Illinois public and private schools from 630-1361 students, and is the one in which the largest number of schools typically participate.

This level of success is far from new to the group, as they have placed in the top 3 across the state for a school record of 9 consecutive years (the 2nd longest current streak in the state behind only Ottawa Township). This ranking is earned through performances during the Spring Semester which include the State Solo and Ensemble Competition, as well as performances at the IHSA Organization Festival.

The music program has earned the coveted championship only 4 times in the history of the school. These were in 1954, twice in a row in 1981 and 1982, and most recently in 2014.

Adelaide Garvey is a Freshman Clarinetist that earned a Best of Day award for her solo at IHSA Solo and Ensemble. Principal Ryan Thomas is presenting the trophy.
