Three years ago SkillsUSA released a set of curriculum called Career Essentials. This curriculum is used to teach employability skills. Carbondale Community High School’s Career and Technical Education department has been teaching this curriculum to our students from the start. The curriculum has many units such as reliability, resilience, innovation, cooperation, and project management to name a few. At the completion of this curriculum and passing of the career readiness test, students are awarded a career readiness certificate. This certificate is recognized by many of the employers in the video and across the nation. CCHS’ SkillsUSA chapter has done such a wonderful job with this new curriculum that they were featured in this video as well as ones to come. Mr. Terry has trained teachers across the states of Illinois and California in using this curriculum and has offered feedback the last three years. We look forward to supporting our students and our future workforce through our Career & Technical Education Department and SkillsUSA chapter.
