Carbondale Reads

The Mayor and City Council members of Carbondale have been invited to participate with CCHS students in SSR. On February 6 both Sheila Simon and Joel Fritzler, City Council members, answered that invitation.

Mrs. Simon participated with Mr. Absher’s Government Class and introduced the book she is reading about Senator Obama. Mrs. Simon is a Clinical Associate Professor at SIU Law School. She previously was an Assistant Jackson County State Attorney and was in a private law practice. Mrs. Simon is running for Mayor in the upcoming Carbondale election.

Mr. Fritzler’s favorite class in high school was American History so he opted to read with Mr. Albertini’s American History class.

Mr. Fritzler is a Research Project Specialist at SIU. Before coming to Carbondale, he served in the Peace Corps in Botswana and worked on a refugee project in Malawi for the United Nations.
