Cosmetology School Scholarships from Buy-Rite Beauty
The scholarship is from Buy-Rite Beauty, and is for $1,000 for those students interested in pursuing a degree in cosmetology.  All participants must applied to or be enrolled in as full-time beautician/cosmetology students.

The CCHS 2017 General Scholarship Application is available in the counseling office. The completed application makes you available for a variety of local and community scholarships. The awards have a variety of criteria ranging from financial need, specific college majors, academic achievement, school choice, etc. so every senior is eligible to be a possible scholarship recipient. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Zeta Amicae Auxiliary of Carbondale – Tommy L. Rayford Memorial Scholarship for a graduating female senior with proven history of community service. Must be postmarked by April 10.

Thelma Gibbs Walker Scholarship. Awarded to full-time African American high school senior.  Senior must reside in Southern Illinois and demonstrate community service involvement.  Student must identify honors and awards and have a GPA of 2.5 of 4.0.  Deadline:  April 30, 2017. 4-30-17

Damas Latinas Spanish Essay Contest will award four $200.00 scholarships for students who have had three years of Spanish and complete an essay. Essay must be submitted and postmarked by April 21, 2017  4-21-17
Carbondale Chapter NAACP Scholarship - Applicants must be students of Carbondale Community High School who will graduate in the year of the award. Students must have a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students must complete a personal essay and submit a letter of recommendation along with completing one page application. LaVerne and Nola McEntire Lineworker's Scholarship - Helps pay for cost to attend lineworkers school in conjuction with Lincoln Land Community College. See Counseling office for details.  
Mike T. Memorial Scholarship for CCHS senior with a GPA of at least 2.5. Must submit a 300 word essay on Community and what does it mean to you.  
Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visit for more information.
Florence A. Cook Recruitment Grant for female students in certified teaching program. Visit for more information
Margaret Leleniewski Memorial Scholarship ($1000.00) for a senior planning to attend college and who plans to go into a building construction technology program or associated trade program. Application available at CEOSI.ORG or in the counseling office.
Code Enforcement Officials of Southern IL Building Trades Scholarship ($1000.00) for a senior planning to attend college and who plans to go into an architecture, construction related engineering, building construction technology program or associated trade. Sixt Scholars - $5,000 - 5 Awards
To be eligible for scholarship a student must:
A) Be a high school senior graduating in the academic year of 2016/2017.

John A. Logan College Foundation Academic Scholarship available in counseling office CLICK HERE
Xi Nu Gamma Scholarship (for senior girls only) who plan to attend a college or university.  Requires leadership, community service, school activities and completion of short essay.
Jackson County Sherriff's  Scholarship applicants must be permanent Illinois residents. Scholarships must be utilized at institutions of higher  learning within the State of IL.  Students must be enrolled as a full time student for the 2017-2018 school year (excluding summer) Deadline March 15, 2017
Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship awarded by The Secretariat.  Applicant should have a strong commitment to pursue a higher education in an office professional, secretarial, or business-related field within the State of Illinois with preference given to attendance at University of Illinois. Deadline March 6, 2017.
Crosswalk Community Action Agency is awarding scholarships.  These funds are provided by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and range from $1500.00-$4000.00.  Each student must meet the list of requirements to be eligible for a CCAA scholarship.  Proof of income for all household members is required.  Deadline April 1, 2017.
Damas Latinas Scholarship is a nonprofit organization has
created a scholarship with the purpose of promoting among high school students the value of education as well as the importance of studying the Spanish language.  This year they will be offering 5 (five) $200.00 scholarships.  The criteria is:  High School Senior with GPA no less than 3.0, 3 years of Spanish (transcript), one letter recommendation from the faculty, an essay written in Spanish.  Additional information is available in the Counseling Dept.  Deadline is April 21, 2017 

State Representative Terri Bryant will award (3) three $500 Community College Sponsorship Awards to be applied to tuition, fees, and books at any of the following Southern Illinois Community Colleges:  Rend Lake, John A.  Logan College, Shawnee Community College, and Kaskaskia College.  Students will be chosen based on merit, financial need, and academic achievement.


Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC. Scholarship 2017  Each applicant must be graduating from CCHS in the spring of 2017.  Each applicant must have a 2.5 GPA or higher for overall high school work.  Each applicant determined eligible will be interviewed by DST Sorority Committee.  Deadline by Friday, April 7, 2017.

Horatio Alger Association Career & Technical Scholarship Program provides support for students seeking to pursue career or technical education in a post-secondary environment.  This program provides financial assistant throughout the nation who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  Scholarship criteria also include high school completion by spring of 2017.  Pell-eligibility, enrollment by fall 2017 with a commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical certificate/degree, and United States citizenship.  Deadline for on-line application will be June 15, 2017.

Charlene Davis Memorial Scholarship:  Applicants will be judged on their demonstrated excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, service (or combination thereof). Banana Gang Scholarship:  This scholarship will be chosen by former CCHS graduates that make up the "Banana Gang".  The winner will receive $2,500.  Deadline:  March 31, 2017.   Interviews will be conducted April 13th. 3-31-17 
Rotary International District 6510 Foundation 2017 Scholarship    This scholarship awards (2) $2,5000 awards.
Applicant have a B average or better, resume of Community involvement and volunteerism, resume of school involvement - Service, Clubs, Athletics, etc.  Deadline:  April 1, 2017.
Patricia Kowalewski Memorial Award for Excellence in Foreign Language. This scholarship is a $500 award. To honor achievement and dedication of a CCHS student who has demonstrated exceptional talent and enthusiasm in the study of foreign language and culture.  Prerequisite for consideration:  Minimum 3 years of study at CCHS in at least one foreign language. Carbondale Branch N.A.A.C.P. Scholarship Fund each year awards two $500.00 scholarship.   Applicants must have a GPA average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or 2.75 for three semesters.  A letter of support (from Counselor, Instructor or Community Leader) must be typewritten.  Personal essay of more than 500 words  - must be typewritten.  List of extracurricular and community activities - must be typewritten.  List of extracurricular and community activities- must be typewritten.  Scholarship application.   Deadline:

 Johnny "Red" Kerr Scholarship for incoming male freshman to the University of Illinois.  The scholarship recognizes men who have displayed outstanding leadership throughout their high school career.   The scholarship is named for Johnny "Red" Kerr,  professional basketball player, color commentator of the 'Chicago Bulls and fellow brother of Phi Kappa Psi.  Application Deadline:  August 21, 2017.
